Back in Budapest

I'm out travelling again!

Re-visiting Budapest, but this time with a different company. We arrived yesterday afternoon and didn't do much more than strolling a bit, eating at Noir et L'or, a really fancy restaurant that I recommend, and searching for a new hotel. We had such bad luck with the hotel this time; it looked nice on the photos but seeing it in person was like a whole different place. In short; it was nasty and had a way too low standard to call itself a hotel (motel would have suited it much better). After searching, asking others and arguing with rude hotel staff, we found a different one that I'm blogging from right now. It is on the Buda side of Budapest, a place I haven't visited much more than the castle hill. Buda is the older, hilly side of the Danube.

Today we went out walking, we saw the Parliament building, walked over the Freedom bridge and took the Funicular up to the castle hill. Nothing new for me, but I love the city and the company is nice too, so I can't complain! There are always new thing to see.

The parliament, Hungary's biggest building

Szabadság-híd

I felt like trying out some monochrome photographing today and these two are my favourites. I thing cities look so elegant in black and white!

After strolling some more, we went to Vásárcsarnok; the market hall! The bottom floor is filled with mostly food and some small souvenir stalls and the top floor is simple eating places, bags, clothes and other kinds of souvenirs. We ate there and unluckily my food wasn't good at all. I choose a stuffed aubergine, but it was so bitter! But at least I could enjoy the beautiful building and I bought a lovely, handmade ring, I'll post photos of that too later!

Fresh veggies!

The vegetables have such a different taste here. They are produced nearby so they can ripen naturally in the sun, which give them so much more taste. Also it's incredibly cheap; see the price tags? Well 1 euro is about 300 forint, you can calculate the rest by yourself

Last photo is my new hotel room. Yes, I just have to brag about it! It's the first time I have a hotel room by myself, such luxury! It's really nice and I have a lovely view out over the castle hill.

That's all for now! I have to get ready to go out on dinner now.

Ah, yeah right! I have to add that the weather is fantastic - 20 degrees and sunny all day long!
