Saturday
Today started as yesterday; Friday 13th, should have. I woke up, went to the bathroom and switched on the lights as usual but the lights started to flicker and suddenly all electricity was gone! It was soon fixed and when I put my makeup on I shattered my favorite eyeshadow, it´s now beyond all rescue...
Despite the unlucky start of the day this day was really good too! We went to Musée du Louvre, France´s biggest national museum and the most visited museum in the world. There are nearly 35,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century are exhibited over an area of 60,600 square metres and the building itself is a historic monument! You may have seen the big glass-pyramid (it´s the same as shown on the picture, but mirrored on the surface) in some Hollywood movie.
We spent about three hours there and still didn´t look at everything! I´ve already seen egyptian and greek art many times before, so I was happy to see their Near Eastern antiquities and Islamic art exhibits. Of course, we also looked at Mona Lisa. Most of the people just went there to take a picture of themselves posing next to the painting, not even really looking at it, wich made me a bit annoyed. However, looking at the Near Eastern and Islamic exhibis was nice, they are less known (and popular, sadly) than the others so it wasn´t crowded there.
However, we also looked at other magnificent paintings, some as big as 10m tall (!!) and the sculpture exhibit. I could have stayed soooooo long at both places and just gaze at the richness of details. How every paintbrush was carefully placed, making the pictures look alive and the perfectly carved stones that made the cold, hard material look like real fabric!
When we were finished at Musée du Louvre we went over the river on one of Paris´many bridges and sat down at a cosy café. I ordered chocolait gourmand; hot chocolate with four small cakes to! It was really nice to sit down and relax for a little while.
Later I was going to meet one of my internet-friends that I´ve got to know through Tumblr! I was nervous, but it was relly nice meeting her! Together the three of us looked at Notre-Dame from the outside (the queue was unbelievebly long, so we didn´t go inside) and then headed to Bastille for some shopping that my friend suggested. But as we were getting closer to the said place we saw that there was a massive crowd of people, police cars and music booming. Turns out it was a huge techno music parade there with 350,000 visitors! I love loud music and dancing, but many people seemed out of control so we went far, far away from there!
It was around five o´clock when we were going to head back to the hotel, but we weren´t quite that tired yet, so we hopped off the next station and went to a big shopping centre at Hotel De Ville! We didn´t find anything intresting and were back at the hotel by eight, both of us completely exhausted!
Blog, eat, sleep - new adventures await us tomorrow!

The photos don´t show how big these two statues actually are; the pilar-top is around four meters tall and the mesopotanian statue is about three meters tall!

Lace and fabric details of a stone-statue
Macron, chocolate muffin, something jelly-ish and Crème brûlée
- all in miniature form!
