More Vienna - day 2
After looking at the Secession Building (wrote about that in an earlier post) we grabbed something to eat. They have fastfood chains with seafood here, which I really envy because I love enjoying the treasures of the sea!
After a big portion of calamaris we went to Wiener Staatsoper (The Vienna State Opera), an opera house with a history dating back to the mid-19th century. We wanted to see the inside and we could see a whole lot of people inside, but all the doors were mystically locked...
...but we did see Mozart argue lively on his mobile!
Fillgraderstiege
A bit hidden in the sixth district of Vienna is the Fillgraderstiege. It's staircase that connects the two streets Fillgradergasse and Theobaldgasse and was built between 1905-1907 in Art Nouveau style. It has been named the fourth most beautiful steps in Europe in 2004 and previously held a café and art gallery in the room behind the stairs!
After walking up these lovely stairs, we followed Theobaldgasse to Mariahilfer strasse. We were both quite tired from all the walking so we sat down at a café where I ordered Coppa Dänmarker - vanilla icecream, whipped cream and hot, chocolate sauce in a tiny jug that was poured in. I could only eat half of it, but it was so delicious! I also really liked the colourful glass-chandelier they had.
