Cont. Ditching the tour
I haven't finished writing about yesterday. It's a bit difficult to find the time (and energy) to write about everything that has happened!
So we ditched the tour as soon as we reached old town. We had just reached the russian-orthodox Alexander Nevski chatedral and the guide gave us only 5 minutes to take a look at it. Stressing from one attraction to another really isn't a thing, so we said goodbye to the guide and left!
So the walk to the hotel began. We were both so tired after the cruise, so we stopped for a coffee mid way. I cannot stress enough just how beautiful old town in Tallinn is! Despite the size of the city, it's very calm wherever you go, especially in the old parts.

Finding the hotel wasn't hard at all. It's a mere 20 minute walk from the old town and is a few hundred meters away from the port. After a well-needed nap we headed back to old town to explore it more freely without our luggage.
Instead of just giving you a wall of text, I'll simply show you and explain it briefly. Click on the photos for a better view on the computer!
One third of the city-wall is still intact and there's around 20 towers, each one with unique names. The biggest one is called Fat Margareta (Paks Margareta in estonian) and is an impressive 24 meters in diameter!
The city-walls are 2,5m wide and 15-16m high and there used to be 48 towers.
Kolm Õde,three sisters. Typical medival buildings. These buldings had an oven in the cellar from which the hot smoke was led into the other rooms to warm them up. Seen from the street, these buildings look small, but there was stables, outhouses, storehouses and the homes of the servants in the backyard.
A street crossing Pikk, the long street. Used to be the main street of the city because it connected the port with the town hall square.
It's nothing historically cool or interesting about this, Just a pig-shaped flowerpot. I love it.
The Alexander Nevski chatedral again.
After turning the map into all kinds of directions we found a viewpoint where you could see the whole city. We also found a seagull who just didn't care about the tourists.
Last but not least, Katarina Käik, St. Catherine's passge. A very old and narrow street with tombstones from medival times (not seen on the picture)
