One last adventure - Kadriorg
It's always the last post from a trip that is the hardest to write. Ýou get home, all tired and homesick and you have barely been able to get some rest before your ordinary life rushes back to you.
Our very last adventure in Tallinn was hard to decide. We were so tired, even after the small trip to Linnahall, so it took us a long time to decide what to do next. The lovely summer weather was changed into rain and chilly winds, so we decided to make our way to the outskirts of Tallinn to Kadriorg palace. It was built during 1718-1725 for Catharine I of Russia by czar Peter the Great and is the home of the Kadriorg Art Museum nowadays.

This was a really interesting way to learn more about just how complicated the art of painting could be during the 13th century. You could click on different places on the touchscreen showing the painting to read more about how the colours were created. The most needed around 6 layers of different paints and coats to get just the right colour!
I'm always, always, always a sucker for highly detailed and kitchy things, such as this detail of a huge vase.
Estonian woman with her child, by Carl Timoleen von Neff, 1850s
After taking a look at all the rooms and floors we wanted to head back into Tallinn, but it was easier said than done. We had taked a taxi to Kadriorg because we couldn't find a bus or tram that would take us there, but there were no taxis there when we wanted to get back. In lack of other ideas we started walking through the huge garden towards the city. There was a small buliding in the end of it with an info-desk and a helpful lady who called for a taxi for us!
Back in the city we had a feast; we were both so very hungry, so we ordered a 2-person mixed plate and a nacho plate. I can only say that we were full until we reached Swedish waters again.
